The price of ethanol hit a record low at under $1.20 per gallon wholesale in November 2018 when crude oil and gasoline prices were falling. While the energy commodities have moved appreciably higher in 2019, ethanol has also gained, but the price has lagged as corn and sugar prices, the primary ingredients in the biofuel, remain at low levels. In my latest article for Seeking Alpha, I look at two companies, ADM and BG, that are involved in processing agricultural commodities into ethanol and the prospects for their shares over the coming weeks and months.
