The Fed Lights The Fuse For Commodities Prices

At their July meeting, the Fed abandoned some of the hawkish squawking we have heard over recent months when it comes to interest rate hikes and balance sheet normalization. In my latest piece for Seeking Alpha, I examine the fall of the dollar in light of the Fed tightening of credit in 2017 and explain why a step back by the Fed and gradual approach to higher rates and quantitative tightening, together with tighter credit in Europe could lead to the dollar to fall through critical support and create a potent bullish cocktail for commodities prices and how the Fed may have lit that fuse at their July meeting.
