The price of sugar more than doubled from August 2015 through October 2016 but it has turned south since as the deficit that lifted prices has turned into a surplus that soured the price of the sweet commodity. In my latest article for Seeking Alpha, I look at the price action in the sugar futures market and explain why a trade organization in the sugar market is warning consumers to not get too comfortable with the current bearish price and why commodity economics are likely to turn the surplus back into a deficit because of the recent price action.
